Data Getter: A Microsoft Excel macro file that simplifies pulling data from databases into Excel. Works with Oracle, SQL Server and Access databases. Enables you to send output to one file or to many files. Enables running multiple queries each to a different output file if desired, or outputs multiple queries to one file. Opensource. Easily customized to query different databases. Tested in Excel 2003 and Excel 2007 on Windows XP and Vista.

I’d like to hear from you if you download and try out data getter. And if you extend Data Getter to work with more databases, please let me know and I will post your enhancements here!

I’m currently working on overhauling the user interface to use User Forms exclusively. This will add screens for modifying queries and batch jobs, which is currently done directly on the work sheet. I hope to have this done by end of April 2010.

Download Data Getter.

SELECT Runner: The poor man’s Real Application Testing. See my blog entry explaining use of these. Two shell scripts are needed, make_files.ksh and process_logs.ksh.

Download make_files.ksh.
Download process_logs.ksh.
Download Excel Macro for parsing SQL Developer report file into sql files.

Pace Maker Not database related…If you run, bike or swim, you may find yourself doing interval training in order to lower your times at longer distances. This XL files extrapolates a race time based on interval split times.
Download race_paces.xls.
